I'm Basak, a singer, songwriter, and instructor with over 13 years of experience teaching voice, composition, and music theory. My musical journey took me from Istanbul to New York, where I earned my doctorate at the Manhattan School of Music and have since worked on stages and in studios worldwide. I teach at the SIRIUS Music School and bring my passion for jazz, pop, and other styles into every lesson. My approach ties solid technique to creative expression: whether you want to develop your voice, write your own songs, or deepen music theory and ear training, I shape lessons so you reach your musical goals and have fun learning along the way. I've worked with beginners and advanced students, from hobby musicians to those chasing a professional career. I've taught voice, songwriting, music theory, and composition for 13 years, working with students at all kinds of levels, from beginners to advanced players prepping for international music academies. Many of my students have passed auditions and gone on to professional music careers, while I also love guiding those who pursue music as a hobby. My lessons cover vocal technique, repertoire work, ear training, and songwriting in jazz and popular genres, with real weight on improvisation and musical understanding. My method is individual and interdisciplinary, meeting each student exactly where they are. I tie solid technique to creative freedom and support my students in finding their own musical voice.
