After the trial you and your teacher agree on a weekly slot. Every lesson runs 45 minutes, one-on-one and live over video, and the hourly rate starts at $29 in a monthly plan. You can move a lesson or switch teachers in the booking tool.
Piano is coordination before it is talent, and coordination answers to work. The first short pieces with both hands together - a melody in the right hand over a few notes in the left - usually come after a few weeks of regular practice. How far you go from there depends on how often you sit down between lessons, which is what the sheet music in your SIRIUS Workspace is for.
No one is too late to begin: a private piano lesson lets you work at the instrument you already have, one-on-one, without waiting for a group to catch up. For a child, a one-on-one lesson keeps all 45 minutes on one pair of hands rather than on a room full of them.
Beginners need no prior experience at all. Anyone can learn to play the piano, and the early lessons are about hand position, posture and reading both clefs rather than repertoire. Our teachers work with complete beginners as often as with advanced players, and every lesson is built around your own goals and the music you want to play.

As far as we found, piano teaching in and around Lebanon sits with two private studios and the university, whose classes and private lessons are for its enrolled students. One studio teaches piano, voice and guitar in Lebanon or online; the other gives its location as the Mt. Juliet, Old Hickory and Lebanon area. Murfreesboro is 24.3 miles away and Nashville 24.6 miles, both in a straight line.
Online lessons take the travel out of the week: no drive, no parking, and a slot that stays the same even when the rest of the week does not. Your teacher follows your hands and your posture on camera, stops you where a passage goes wrong, and works from the same sheet music you have open. If a teacher turns out not to fit, you switch in the booking tool.

A lesson is 45 minutes, and in a monthly plan the hourly rate starts at $29. Your trial lesson is free. A plan covers two, three or four hours a month on a three- or six-month membership; more hours and a longer term bring the hourly rate down. You can pause or adjust your plan at any time. Neither of the private piano studios we found posts a price, and the $300 fee in Cumberland University's catalog covers one credit hour of private piano for enrolled students, on top of tuition.
A keyboard is enough to begin on. What matters more than the number of keys is touch sensitivity: the keys have to answer to how hard you press, because that is how piano technique is built. Teachers widely treat 61 touch-sensitive keys as workable for a first year and recommend a full 88 weighted keys once you are a year or two in. Your teacher will look at what you have in the trial lesson.
Most piano teachers start children at around six or seven, once a child knows basic letters and numbers, can follow a simple instruction and can sit and focus for a stretch. Readiness counts for more than the birthday, and the free trial lesson is where you and the teacher find out whether yours is ready. Adults start with us at every age, and nobody is too late.

Cumberland University's 2026-2027 catalog lists seven piano courses. The first Class Piano course is a beginners' group class that asks for no prior experience, and the sequence runs fall, then spring. Enrolled students can also take private piano lessons for credit, and music-education students must pass a piano proficiency exam.
The Lebanon High School Band has a marching band, a concert band and a wind ensemble; concert band players who do well are invited to audition for the wind ensemble, which earned a Superior with Distinction rating at the Concert Performance Assessment in 2024 and 2025. Its own marching contest, the Blue Devil Invitational, is set for October 17, 2026, at the high school. Wilson Central High School, also in the city, groups all its bands, color guard and winter guard in one club, and Winfree Bryant Middle School lists band among its ten clubs and activities. We found no piano class on the school pages we read.
