The City Clerk of Keene answers a completed license application inside a fixed number of days instead of on a fixed date. The clerk answers inside thirty days; a larger event waits for the council. The figure lessons open from is $29 here, and an opening lesson at no charge comes first. The person listening writes the time you agreed into the sheet and works from it. The clerk commits to a span; the date stays open.
The Keene Cheshiremen Chorus rehearses in a basement dining room, and the door it uses is round the back of the building. A room borrowed for singing rarely looks like a room for singing. The sentence 'I cannot sing' runs on that confusion: it describes a setting somebody once sang in, and then gets read as a description of the voice. We take your own song list into whatever room you have, and no two rooms treat a voice alike. A dining room can carry a chorus on a Tuesday; a kitchen flatters no voice that sings alone in it.
The Keene Cheshiremen Chorus has held its charter since May 1, 1952 and meets on Tuesdays, and it writes that guests are welcome on a Tuesday evening. A charter from 1952, and an invitation that stands on the evenings it rehearses. The person listening keeps your own song list current as the voice shifts under it. Children join once holding a tune has turned from work into pleasure, and grown-ups join whenever they get round to it. A Tuesday evening covers the whole of that invitation.
The Colonial Theatre opened on January 29, 1924, changed hands in 1984, was bought by its present non-profit in 1993, entered the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2004, and reopened on April 1, 2022. An opening, a sale, a purchase by a non-profit, a listing on the state register, a reopening. A voice keeps a shorter record than a building, and what goes into it are the days you sang. Inside a year the condition you set will have moved more than once, and the plan gets rebuilt around it. Five dated acts, one address on Main Street.
The Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport sits on the department list of the City of Keene and stands on ground in the town of Swanzey. The City of Keene holds it as a department; the ground beneath it lies in Swanzey. Your lesson slot records your own song list wherever the two of you happen to be. Video lets the room you sing in double as the room you practice in, which is where the singing has to work anyway. An address on a department list and a plot of ground in Swanzey describe one airport between them.

In Keene the room where people sing is usually a room with another job. The Keene Cheshiremen Chorus meets at 6:30 on a Tuesday evening in the dining room in the basement of the United Church of Christ in Keene, 23 Central Square, and the way in is from the back, off the Vernon Street lot. The City of Keene runs five wards under a charter in force since January 2, 1970; the state recognized Keene as a city on May 5, 1874, the same body having been incorporated as a town in 1753. The SHOWROOM at 20 Commercial Street and the Alumni Recital Hall at 90 Wyman Way are rooms kept for performance; this page is mostly about the rooms that are not.
The Keene Chorale holds its open rehearsals on September 15 and September 22 at Monadnock Covenant Church, 90 Base Hill Road, which the City of Keene lists as the polling place for Ward 5. That chorus holds the room across the school year, and the city holds it on the days it counts votes. A first-time student is not asked for a set piece; your own song list is the material. On an election day the singers give the room back.
Two of the choruses rehearsing in Keene are guests in the buildings they use: the Keene Chorale at Monadnock Covenant Church, the Cheshiremen in the basement at 23 Central Square. Ninety Base Hill Road on a Tuesday, twenty-three Central Square on a Tuesday, and in the second case a dining room in the basement. We rearrange the lesson around the note at the top of the phrase, since that is where the trouble tends to sit. Two addresses, one evening of the week, and in each case the singing pays rent.
A recital hall is a room kept for one purpose, and the Alumni Recital Hall of Keene State College at 90 Wyman Way is run that way. The SHOWROOM at 20 Commercial Street, run by The Colonial Theatre Group, Inc., is the other one, and it stands in its own building behind The Colonial Theatre at 95 Main Street. Inside an opening lesson, what gets written on the sheet you keep is tone and the words you cannot get out cleanly. Those two rooms answer to one purpose; the rooms Keene's two guest choruses use answer to several.

The person listening takes the sheet you keep as it comes, untidy or not, so long as it is yours. The shop sells papers over the same counter that sells the ticket.
Keene State College at 229 Main Street runs a Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, a Vocal Consort and an Opera Workshop, with Dr. Sandra Howard as Director of Vocal Studies, and the three choirs share a program at the Alumni Recital Hall in the Redfern Arts Center, 90 Wyman Way, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Colonial Theatre at 95 Main Street is run by The Colonial Theatre Group, Inc.; that non-profit bought the building in 1993. The Keene Chorale was founded in 1979, is accompanied by the pianist Vladimir Odinokikh, and plays its winter concert on Sunday, December 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. The Keene Music Fest takes downtown Keene on Saturday, September 5, 2026 with more than sixty original acts, and the City of Keene lists it among eleven community-organized events licensed by its council, alongside a February festival, a June food festival, a July road race and a November tree lighting.

We listen first, and the sheet you keep comes out of that conversation. The dollar reaches a non-profit, and the city does not collect it.
The Keene Chorale opens two of its rehearsals to visitors, on September 15 and September 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 in the evening. Two dates a week apart, and the same two hours on each. Inside an opening lesson you bring a song, and the time you agreed is what holds it in place. Two evenings in September stand open to visitors.
Monadnock Covenant Church holds a chorus on a Tuesday and a ballot box for Ward 5 when the City of Keene calls an election. A church hall on Base Hill Road, a basement dining room on Central Square, a news counter on Main Street. The condition you set gives your lesson slot its shape, and it carries into the following week. The room that counts votes goes back to rehearsing the following Tuesday.
