Go electric and lessons also cover the gear side nobody explains in a manual: how gain and EQ shape your tone, when a clean amp with a little reverb beats a wall of distortion, and how overdrive and delay change your phrasing.

Children can start around six on a smaller-bodied guitar, teenagers usually arrive with a playlist in mind, and adult beginners often progress fastest because they practice deliberately. Returning players are a category of their own: the chords come back within weeks, and the real work is rebuilding calluses and timing.
