The Uptown Music Collective publishes a 15-week semester at $600 for a 30-minute weekly lesson, payable as two installments of $300 or four of $150; a 60-minute lesson at $1,080, or 2 x $540, or 4 x $270. CAST, at 100 West Third Street, sets its Introductory Studio by the month at $100. Our opening figure is $29 a lesson, with the first hour unpriced. Length and frequency you set yourself, in any room in Lycoming County you can close for an hour.
Most people who say it are describing a room they once stood in. Follow the order this town publishes: the Williamsport Civic Chorus, calling itself an open community of singers; then Trinity Episcopal Church at 844 West Fourth Street, whose choir turns nobody away; then the Repasz Band, holding an audition only to seat a player inside a section. None of those settings was built to report back on a single voice. An hour brings the condition into the open -- the vowel that closes, the jaw that sets early.
The Uptown Music Collective runs two Early Childhood courses of twelve weeks each, at $240 and $300. CAST sets its condition at a grade instead: students must be currently enrolled in sixth grade. Your SIRIUS coach sets down what one phrase is doing in the voice actually present. The same hour therefore suits a teenager whose voice is still shifting and someone returning decades later.
A 15-week semester is what the Uptown Music Collective sells, and the school puts the running figure at about $40 a week. That measures attendance. The price list does not measure what changes underneath it: the first honest breath under a long line, usually there within the first few lessons; the top of a phrase that stops thinning, which takes longer; the habit of hearing your own pitch before anyone names it. You book the hour. It never asks how long you have been at this.
A lesson has no use for a hall, a stage or a seat map. It needs one listener who can hear the quiet part of a note, and that is the part a SIRIUS connection is tuned to keep. The River Valley Transit Authority runs a real service on a real schedule, Monday through Saturday, and your voice simply does not have to meet it.

A Williamsport audition mostly settles where a singer stands inside a group, not whether the singer joins one. The Lycoming College Choir is "open to all Lycoming students who love to sing," and musical experience there "is helpful, but not required." Its Tour Choir is then "selected by competitive audition from the larger Lycoming College Choir" -- picked out of a group the singer already belongs to. Trinity Episcopal Church, 844 West Fourth Street, publishes that "Membership in the choir is open to all." The Repasz Band takes no membership dues and states that "Auditions may be held to determine placement within sections." One case runs the other way: the Lycoming College Chamber Choir, where "membership is by audition" and participation carries a $500.00 fellowship.
A singer here moves through a published order. First the Williamsport Area School District, running the Millionaire Singers, Les Chanteuses and GQ from 2780 West Fourth Street; then CAST, the Community Academy of Stage & Theatre at 100 West Third Street, which opens private vocal lessons to students who are "currently enrolled in sixth grade"; then the Uptown Music Collective at 144 West Third Street, teaching voice and keeping open 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Those three steps settle a room. Your SIRIUS hour listens to one phrase -- the one that came apart on Tuesday.
The Lycoming College Choir accepts students who want to sing; the Lycoming College Chamber Choir admits only those an audition has already chosen. Either way one singer's position is unchanged, because a conductor reading a full section is listening for the balance of a section, and a single larynx sits under it. Your SIRIUS coach rebuilds the session around one voice and moves the exercises when that voice moves, so the only sound in the room to weigh is the one you just made.
CAST prices a private vocal lesson at half an hour: $25 a lesson in the Introductory Studio, or $100 a month. Half an hour is what CAST sells, and the unit decides what fits inside it. Under SIRIUS you bring the material yourself, and an hour divides it differently: the vowel that closes once you get loud; the top of a line that answers on Monday and refuses on Friday; the count that slips when the words come fast. All three fit one sitting.
The Lycoming College Chamber Choir pays a $500.00 fellowship for participation. That settles something about a room; it settles nothing about a voice. SIRIUS writes down the other kind of answer, and your coach keeps the plan for your voice where you can read it between lessons. The first session is on us, and the plan is what it produces.
The Journey Bank Community Arts Center, 220 West Fourth Street, has carried sung sound since it opened as the Capitol Theatre on October 22, 1928, and Pennsylvania College of Technology owns and operates the facility. A hall like that is generous, and generosity is the difficulty when you are trying to hear one fault. Of the connection a SIRIUS lesson asks something narrower: enough resolution at low volume that a breath taken late is audible as a late breath -- as long as you are still sitting where you sang it.
The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra keeps its office and ticket counter on the third floor at 220 West Fourth Street and plays its season in the same building: the Young Artists Competition on October 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., Youth Ensembles in Concert on November 8, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., and Mahler's Ninth on February 9, 2027 at 7:30 p.m. The Williamsport Music Club is in its 90th season, with ten monthly programs at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine Street, most at 7:00 p.m. The Dr. Kenneth Cooper Bandshell in Brandon Park was dedicated as a music pavilion on June 16, 1914, and the Recreation Department of the City of Williamsport runs a summer series there.
CAST sorts by experience once a student is already inside: an Introductory Studio at $25 a lesson, a Performance Studio at $35 per lesson, and the Performance students sing at the Vocal Studio Recitals. The level decides the studio, the studio decides the recital. A SIRIUS hour reorganizes the material around whatever you can already sing. It asks first for a song you know, ahead of any grade, studio or placement at the Community Theatre League.
The River Valley Transit Authority runs its Vallamont line Monday through Saturday, with outbound departures from Bay 10 or 11 at the Trade & Transit Centre at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:35 p.m.; the City of Williamsport keeps its offices at 100 West Third Street open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each of those openings is a promise somebody else made about a building. Your coach moves the plan for your voice into whichever slot you name, and you move it online when your Tuesday changes.
It depends on what you want a first hour to do. If you want a verdict, Williamsport publishes several already; if you want to know where your own voice actually sits, that is a different hour, and SIRIUS books that one. You say what you mean to sing, your coach sets down what is standing in the way, and both lines go into the same plan. By the third lesson you will know which of the two you were after.
A singer who already knows what her own voice does gets sorted correctly in any of these rooms: the Lycoming College Choir will take her, the Tour Choir may select her out of it, the Lycoming College Chamber Choir may audition her for a fellowship of $500.00, and the Repasz Band may seat her within a section. SIRIUS requires none of that beforehand. Bring one phrase and the hour has what it needs.
