Lessons start at $29 in this town, and the session before that one is free, so the question ends where it began: what does an hour cost, and can I try it. Even where a fee schedule gets complicated, this one does not: no registration, no term, no minimum number to book. A single lesson is priced by the hour, and the hour does not get cheaper in bulk.
Reading music is not needed to start, and plenty of singers here do without it. Your coach fills the space between what you can hear and what you can do, which is ear work: sing it, listen, adjust, sing it again. Notation sizes up against that as a convenience rather than a requirement. If you want it, it can be taught alongside; if you do not, the lessons work without it.
Lessons here start at about age eight and set no limit at the upper end. The hour skips the middle of most age debates by working on breath and posture, neither of which changes between nine and sixty. What the coach holds beside that is a different pace: a child's voice is still growing and takes shorter, lighter sessions, while an adult voice is usually stable and needs a long-standing habit taken apart.
Sixty minutes is the standard hour and thirty suits younger singers. Weekly works for most people; a two-week rhythm works if the practice happens in between. Progress shifts a notch at a time rather than arriving: a breath problem that took years to build takes months to undo, and the honest marker is a recording from six weeks back. Your coach takes the guesswork out by playing that recording beside this week's.
Online lessons take the long way round in one respect and no other: the sound reaches your coach through a connection rather than across a room. The rest pushes past that difference intact, including the recording and the written note. Below an address, a name usually changes what you get; the Ritz Theatre stands on the far side of that, where Right, Center and Left change the seat and leave the price where it is. For one voice and one coach, a quiet space and a wired line are enough.

Grace Episcopal Church gives its address as 401 Pendleton Street and then tells you to use a different street to get in. The building stands at the corner of Pendleton and Mary; the church door is the red one on Mary Street and the parish hall door is the blue one, also on Mary Street. Choir practice is Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and it happens behind the blue one.
Because the useful information in this town sits one level below the address, and a singer has to know which level. First Baptist Church at 702 Elizabeth Street runs four music groups and publishes a floor for each: the Worship Choir in the Adult Choir Room upstairs on the second floor, Wednesday at 7:10 p.m.; the Joyful Noise Choir in the Children's Choir Room on the third, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.; the Handbell Choir and the Youth Band both in the Lower Auditorium on the first, Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Four groups, three rooms, three floors. A lesson holds to one figure instead and settles it before you arrive.
How much of a rehearsal is addressed to you? Mike Taylor has been musician and choir director at Grace Episcopal since 1997, and what he runs on a Wednesday is a choir: the room works on the anthem, and each singer takes from it whatever applies. An hour with a SIRIUS vocal coach carries two names and no more. The passage that loses its edge gets scratched in, worked and heard back the same hour, which is a different matter from singing it correctly in company.
What actually changes in a voice, and in what order? Breath first, because it carries the line. Then posture and support, because they carry the breath. Then the vowel, which decides how much of the top of your range stays open. Then the entry, which is timing rather than sound. The part you were given to learn stops being the obstacle once those four are in place, and your coach stops there rather than adding a fifth.
What does a singer here have to work out before singing? Which door, which floor, which night, and whether the group is taking people. The rest buckles to your own week, and the school your coach teaches through handles the booking, the record and the rescheduling from one account.
Each hour stays in your account afterward. The recording that outlives the call is the useful part: you hear the passage as it was, not as you remember it, and the correction arrives spoken aloud.
The Waycross Area Community Theatre sells a single ticket at $15.25 and charges the same in the Ritz Theatre's three named sections. That company put its whole season on sale on a single day, and each production then runs its own offer until its last performance. Grace Episcopal keeps its Wednesday choir practice at 5:00 p.m. under Mike Taylor and runs Sunday School at 9:00 a.m., Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. and Fellowship at 11:00 a.m., an hour apart down the list; and First Baptist runs its four groups under Terri Barnett, worship leader there since 2023, with Carol Parker at the piano. First Baptist sets Bible Study at 9:15 a.m. and Morning Worship at 10:30 a.m., with a Family Night supper at 5:30 p.m. First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Waycross at 615 Knight Avenue entered the National Register in April 2003, and the register's own description notes a bay projection at the rear that houses the organ.
Children's choirs and adult choirs occupy different floors here for a practical reason, and a lesson steps around that distinction entirely. The work reaches a nine-year-old and a sixty-year-old through those same four things, and what differs is how much range each can hold and how fast a habit shifts. A child's voice changes underneath the lessons; an adult's has usually settled and needs the habit unlearned rather than the instrument grown.
Church music here runs Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon, which suits people whose weeks look like that. A lesson stands open longest of the options because it is not tied to a building's night: the hour you moved twice to keep is still the hour, and your coach says no more about it than confirming the new time. Morning, evening and weekend slots each exist.
One thing here narrows to one door rather than two: the first lesson. You bring a song, or your coach suggests one and you sing that. No one is assessing whether you belong in a section. The hour welds to what your voice does that day, and what comes after it is a conversation rather than a form.
Doors, floors and bays: this specific information sits one step past the street name, and the singing waits at the end of that step. A lesson piles up no part of it. The address is your own room, the floor is wherever you are standing, and the lesson held open for you puts next to that one coach who knows what happened last week.
