The Community Music School of Northern New York publishes $125 per month for 30-minute instrumental or vocal lessons, effective August 1, 2026, and the unit on sale there is the month, with the lesson sitting inside it. $29 is the entry figure our lessons start from, and the hour in front of it is free. The hour carries its own figure along with it, settled before any month is. One of those two figures is priced by the calendar, and the other attaches to the lesson itself.
Registration for the Northern Choral Society's adult singers opens at 1:00 p.m., an hour before the rehearsal itself begins, and where a condition might sit the group puts two questions instead: "Can you read music? Have you sung in a choir before?" Neither one asks how the voice sounds. The lesson does ask, and gets its answer in the first hour: your SIRIUS coach sizes the next passage to the one you just sang. The second of those two questions is about a room you were once in, not about the sound you made there.
Children in grades 1 through 10 are welcome in the Northern Choral Society's children's choir; registration for that choir opens on September 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.; all of them sing for free. Grade, date, time: three coordinates, and a voice is not located by any of them. You catch how one week differs from the last long before any form records it. The thing worth writing down is the time of day, because that is the only one of the three you will still be choosing later.
Tuition at the Community Music School assumes four private lessons in a month. Some months hold a fifth occurrence of the lesson day, and that fifth either becomes an extra lesson carrying no further cost or settles an outstanding makeup. You time your own progress against that fifth lesson and not against a calendar, because it turns up irregularly and counts weeks that actually happened. SIRIUS shifts the terms when a month turns out shorter than it looked, so whether that fifth becomes a lesson or a repayment is settled in advance.
CitiBus publishes five named routes, and the times it prints are departures from the transfer site at 544 Newell Street. Getting there is a journey with a printed schedule behind it, and getting home is a second journey. Neither leg exists in a video lesson, so neither needs looking up. Where the schedule stops, the recording keeps the note you actually made, jaw and throat and all.

The City of Watertown keeps a fee schedule dated July 1, 2026, and inside it the rehearsal has a line of its own. A performance day at the field costs $1,150 for a city resident and $1,440 for everybody else. The day before it and the day after it cost $575 and $720, exactly half of each. Then comes the line that behaves differently: "Practice - Schools Within City Limits and JCC", charged at 50 percent by the hour, with N/A standing where the second figure would go. The rows around it carry two figures apiece. The one for rehearsal time carries a fraction and a blank.
The arena chapter of the same book repeats the ratio, $1,400 against $700: preparation is a real item here, priced downward from the thing it prepares for. Where the other rows print a non-resident figure, the practice line reads N/A instead. Your SIRIUS coach holds the weeks in the opposite order, carrying the preparation forward into the performance while the schedule counts backward from it. A city that puts a price on getting ready has conceded that getting ready is a thing.
At the end of October the Northern Choral Society changes buildings. Rehearsals begin September 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church on Washington Street and sit there through October; in November and December they move to the Asbury United Methodist Church on Franklin Street, where the concerts then happen on December 5 and December 6 at 3:00. The room becomes familiar over November, before the December concerts are sung in it. You say which evenings are genuinely yours before a single one is booked, and that answer becomes the only condition the arrangement carries.
Watertown Lyric Theater Productions asks a candidate for roughly 32 bars, about one minute, of their own choosing; the accompanist comes from the house, the role excerpts come from the house, and the score folder arrives only after the form is in. So: one minute yours, the rest supplied. The ratio inverts in a lesson. You hold the phrase until it stops changing, and the supplied part is an account of what it did, minute after minute, until its shape sits still. SIRIUS sizes each exercise to the point where your own line runs out of air. The minute you bring is never the rationed part.
Read the Community Music School's monthly figure backwards and you arrive somewhere specific. Thirty-minute instrumental or vocal lessons run $125 per month, effective August 1, 2026; behind that sits a count of private lessons; behind that, a policy page setting out how a cancelled one is recovered. Before the month begins at all, SIRIUS takes in the recording of your opening hour and works outward from that. The figure at the front gets decided last of all.
The Great Organ at Trinity Episcopal Church on Sherman Street has 3,547 pipes, was installed by the Skinner Organ Company in 1924 and rebuilt and enlarged in 1970 by Hill, Norman and Beard. A recording holds one take of an instrument that size. The hour works the phrase back over itself as often as you want it worked, which is not something a hall on that scale is built to do. An organ puts the air of the room into the sound. What a file gives back instead is the second listen.
The Northern Choral Society, founded in 1954, takes no singer fee this year; its children's choir accepts grades 1 through 10 under Mrs. Marietta Kitto. The Orchestra of Northern New York plays each of its programs twice, and in the 2026/27 season all four Watertown dates fall on a Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The Trinity Chancel Choir sings the 10:30 Holy Eucharist on Sunday mornings, and the 11-member Trinity Handbell Choir prepares music for both the 8 and the 10:30 services at least six times a year. The Strand at 136 Franklin Street, reopened in 2025 and run by HarmoNNY Performing Arts Community, seats between 60 and 150 guests around a 14-inch raised stage.
Grades 1 through 10; registration on September 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.; and then no fee at all. Three conditions, and the third cancels the usual force of the first two. Your SIRIUS coach tells you what the larynx is doing on the day it turns up, and no grade appears anywhere in that description. The fee that was never charged is what makes the first two conditions readable.
CitiBus, listed in the City of Watertown's department directory beside the police, fire and library departments, runs weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., its last bus departing at 5:40 p.m., and Saturday from 9:40 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The choral rehearsal that needs reaching starts at 2:00 p.m. You set the hour where your own week has room, and the recording of it sits there until you come back to it. The bus stops before the evening does.
Watertown Lyric Theater Productions sets its scholarship deadline at Friday, June 12, 2026, and puts Forever Plaid on stage that same Friday at 7 pm. One date does double duty: the paperwork closes on the evening the curtain goes up. SIRIUS listens to the first song you bring, in whatever state it turns up, and that first hour goes unpaid for. Here too the day you decide and the day you begin are allowed to be one day.
A city that writes the rehearsal into its price list has already conceded the point: the hour before the performance is a real object, with a cost and a category. Teaching is that hour and the performance together, and so it can be discounted from nothing. Once preparation is the item being bought, SIRIUS shifts the weeks around your calendar instead of around a stage. Preparation is the whole item here, and it gets billed as itself.
