After the trial you and your teacher agree on a weekly slot. Every lesson runs 45 minutes, one-on-one and live over video, and the hourly rate starts at $29 in a monthly plan. You can move a lesson or switch teachers in the booking tool.
Piano is coordination before it is talent, and coordination answers to work. The first short pieces with both hands together - a melody in the right hand over a few notes in the left - usually come after a few weeks of regular practice. How far you go from there depends on how often you sit down between lessons, which is what the sheet music in your SIRIUS Workspace is for.
No one is too late to begin: a private piano lesson lets you work at the instrument you already have, one-on-one, without waiting for a group to catch up. For a child, a one-on-one lesson keeps all 45 minutes on one pair of hands rather than on a room full of them.
Beginners need no prior experience at all. Anyone can learn to play the piano, and the early lessons are about hand position, posture and reading both clefs rather than repertoire. Our teachers work with complete beginners as often as with advanced players, and every lesson is built around your own goals and the music you want to play.

Inside Homestead's city limits we found no piano studio with its own website; nearby, one music school with piano lessons sits just over the line in Florida City, and Miami Dade College holds continuing-education piano classes at its Kendall Campus. Miami, the next city larger than Homestead, lies 27 miles off in a straight line. An online lesson brings the teacher to the instrument you practice on, without the drive to Kendall or Miami.
Online lessons take the travel out of the week: no drive, no parking, and a slot that stays the same even when the rest of the week does not. Your teacher follows your hands and your posture on camera, stops you where a passage goes wrong, and works from the same sheet music you have open. If a teacher turns out not to fit, you switch in the booking tool.

A lesson is 45 minutes, and in a monthly plan the hourly rate starts at $29. Your trial lesson is free. A plan covers two, three or four hours a month on a three- or six-month membership; more hours and a longer term bring the hourly rate down. You can pause or adjust your plan at any time. We found no published piano rate from a teacher in Homestead; outside the city, Miami Dade College's Kendall Campus, 15 miles away, charges $350 for seven one-hour private piano lessons.
A keyboard is enough to begin on. What matters more than the number of keys is touch sensitivity: the keys have to answer to how hard you press, because that is how piano technique is built. Teachers widely treat 61 touch-sensitive keys as workable for a first year and recommend a full 88 weighted keys once you are a year or two in. Your teacher will look at what you have in the trial lesson.
Most piano teachers start children at around six or seven, once a child knows basic letters and numbers, can follow a simple instruction and can sit and focus for a stretch. Readiness counts for more than the birthday, and the free trial lesson is where you and the teacher find out whether yours is ready. Adults start with us at every age, and nobody is too late.
That depends on what you want to play and on how much you practice between lessons. Piano asks two hands to do different things at once, so the early work is hand position, reading both clefs and keeping a steady pulse. A first piece that uses both hands together tends to arrive after a stretch of regular practice, and the exercises in your Workspace are what carry the days in between.
Yes, and the reason is specific to the piano. A piano lesson is mostly listening, demonstrating and repeating, and none of that needs the same room. Your teacher follows your hand position and your posture on camera and can stop you mid-phrase, and the sheet music you work from stays open in your Workspace between lessons. For a class in a room with a teacher, the piano group class for ages eight to fifteen at the Kendall Campus, 15 miles from Homestead, runs from January 15 to April 9, 2027 and costs $153.

Homestead's public schools are part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and Homestead Senior High sits inside the city. In 2022 the city honored the school's band for an excellent rating at the Florida Bandmasters Association Solo & Ensemble assessment, its first time at that assessment in sixteen years. Miami Dade College runs a campus in Homestead, but we found no piano course listed for it; the piano classes in the college's continuing-education catalog meet at its Kendall, North and Wolfson campuses.
The Seminole Theatre opened on November 26, 1921, burned in 1940, was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and reopened on December 12, 2015. The city-owned theater has hosted tribute nights to Billy Joel and Elton John. As of October 19, 2026 its calendar runs to a Steely Dan tribute on April 3, 2027. The city also put free live music in Losner Park at Art in the Park on February 28, 2026.
