August highs normally sit in the mid-90s, and around nine afternoons in a typical August still top 100 degrees, which is not weather anyone wants to spend loading an instrument into a baking car. This is also a military and medical town: rotating shifts at Joint Base San Antonio and across the hospital district refuse to respect a fixed Tuesday-at-six appointment.
