Frequency beats duration: fifteen honest minutes a day will take you further than two hours every Sunday.
Yes - you need an instrument in your hands, because guitar is learned by playing rather than by watching. Any working acoustic or electric is fine to begin with, including one borrowed from a friend or bought secondhand from a local shop. SIRIUS does not supply or rent out instruments. So why learn online in a place with that much live music? Because the arithmetic rarely works out. Columbus is spread thin: a teacher in Clintonville and a student in German Village are a long crosstown drive apart, worse at five o'clock. Winters are grey and icy enough that a January commute for a thirty-minute session stops feeling worthwhile by week three. Add the shift patterns of a hospital-and-logistics economy, and a standing Tuesday-at-six across town becomes the thing you quietly cancel. Beyond that sit the club rooms - Ace of Cups for volume, Rumba Cafe for a crowd close enough to watch your hands, Natalie's Grandview when the song outweighs the amplifier. Guitar House Workshop on Chambers Road, family run, handles setups and repairs. The technical work happens at home with your teacher on screen; the city gives you somewhere to put it.
People who have never held a guitar make up much of our student body, and nothing in a first lesson assumes otherwise. Adults returning after a decade away find the muscle memory survived; only the calluses are gone. Children can start around seven or eight on a three-quarter-size guitar. Players who already gig come to fix one thing: a weak picking hand, a genre they cannot fake, theory they skipped.
