<p>What sits behind this question is usually the fear that the figure moves once you ask. Locally that worry has a basis: the convention center publishes three room sizes and prints no figure beside them. Lessons start at $29; the free trial ahead of them leaves that figure alone. Three published room sizes wait on a telephone call to be judged.</p>
<p>First United Methodist prints it for its Chancel Choir plainly and without a footnote: there is no audition to join, and the church names no skill level as a bar. That covers the second half of the worry as well as the first, because a singer who cannot yet read a part is not turned away either. SIRIUS zones the first session accordingly, giving the reading its own stretch of it.</p>
<p>The fair's age ladder is the local unit here, nine edges deep. Other bodies set their own beside it. Madisonville Parks and Recreation lets 3 and under into its pool free and charges school age children $5.00. A separate rate, for Thursday minigolf, turns on 10 and under. The senior bus turns on 60 and over. A SIRIUS lesson treats no edge as a starting line and begins as soon as a child can sit through one repetition and try it again, which for most falls in the sixth year. The upper end is where those ladders part company with a lesson, since the fair's last bracket opens at 22 and names no ceiling either. The ladder does not house a singer who is not competing, and a lesson does.</p>
<p>Two questions are folded into this one: how long a session lasts, and how long the learning takes. A SIRIUS session has a fixed answer for the first, sixty minutes, returning weekly or at a spacing you set, and two local blocks of 120 minutes sit beside it: Voices of Hopkins County runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday in October, and Madisonville Parks and Recreation rents a single kayak for $20 for two hours. Neither block was built for a voice, and both are easier to picture than the second question. The second stretch stamps no date on itself, since the work is counted in repetitions and the count simply stops being needed.</p>
<p>Given a quiet room and a connection that holds, a video lesson carries what a lesson in person carries. A lesson over video needs neither a mileage charge nor a room hire, and the one thing it does ask for is a door you can shut. Distance gets priced locally in two units. KCTCS adds a distance learner fee of $20 per credit hour, and Pennyrile Allied Community Services charges $1.25 a mile a person against a three-mile minimum. The session records itself while it runs.</p>

Madisonville is where Hopkins County keeps its seat, and the 2025 estimate for the city came to 19,428 people. The county fair sets six pageants, and each one draws a different map of who may enter. The four youngest are open to a Hopkins County resident, the two oldest to a Kentucky resident, and the bus for riders of 60 and over comes back to the county line. Two of those three lines are the same county line, and age decides which edge a singer meets.
A SIRIUS lesson draws no map before it starts. The route to a place in a local contest runs through a pre-registration form, and no entry is taken at the door; each body draws its line somewhere else, a county line for the four youngest pageants and a state line for the two oldest. How much of a county line shuts a voice out of a lesson?
At SIRIUS the room holds a coach plus a singer, and the count stops there. The fair's toddler pageant caps each half of each age division at twenty, since the first 20 girls and 20 boys in an age division are accepted, and that cut sits beside the age bracket. In one direction the count selects who gets in; in the other the choosing is over before the door opens, since the room holds one singer.
The chorus and drama program at Hopkins County Central publishes thirteen dated items in one list, and the entry forms it prints come in three shapes. That is an inventory of appearances, and it clears as a calendar. Reading comes first in a singing plan, far enough to find an entry without counting aloud. The air is worked next, where it must be saved and where it can be spent, and the point where a range divides is worked after that. A SIRIUS plan names those three and stops there, because a fourth would be a date and not a skill. When does a list of dates fold into a list of skills?
The senior center wants a telephone call two days before its bus will carry a rider. Booked and open are separate conditions, and those two days sit against the ease the service otherwise suggests. The first session is free of charge, and after it the price starts at $29. A lesson is entered by whoever wants it, on the day they want it. The senior center quarters its service by county and by age, and a SIRIUS lesson divides neither, reaching whoever opens it.
The library puts public computers, mobile printing and Libby on its list of services. A SIRIUS lesson runs the video and the audio together, and the recording tallies as part of the lesson. The college's distance learner fee pairs with the enrollment as far as the credit hours run and no further.
The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts sits at 2000 College Drive and runs its ticket counter 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, plus two hours before a performance. The 2026/27 season there carries fifteen titles across five series: four in Center Stage, three in Chamber Music with youth given free entry, three in Stage Door with youth at half, one Proud Partnership title, and four under Community Driven Programs. The MCC Singers rehearse Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. on the college campus, take singers in high school and above, and appear at the Glema Center in December and in April. On East Center Street, First United Methodist keeps seven ensembles, of which six publish a starting time while the seventh publishes no time.
The fair's six pageants set nine separate age edges, from a first eleven months to a twenty-second birthday. A SIRIUS lesson waits its turn behind no bracket and starts where the singer already is. The chorus at Madisonville Community College asks for no address and holds no audition. By the first lesson the voice is what gets rated.
The library keeps identical weekday times at its two branches and parts company on Saturday. The Madisonville branch runs to 3:30 p.m. that day, while Dawson Springs opens at 12:00 p.m. and shuts at 3:00 p.m. The main branch is open 150 minutes longer. A SIRIUS lesson is set against the time you name, not against a branch schedule. You may find that the week fills up from Monday onward, and the lesson still slots in.
The Glema Mahr Center opened subscriptions on August 17, 2026 and single tickets seven days later, on August 24. The chorus on that campus needs neither, since rehearsal is Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and a singer in high school or above can simply arrive. A first SIRIUS session asks for a song already in the throat and a time that suits you. It gives the earlier hour away if the later one works better. The result shapes the second session before the first one ends.
The Chancel Choir at that church is one of the six with a printed start, rehearsing Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in its choir room, and it prints no closing time. The council sits twice a month, on a first and a third Monday at 4:30 p.m., and the Mondays between them carry no printed meeting. A SIRIUS lesson takes no amendment from either calendar. It sits in the part of the day you gave it. Granted that six of the seven carry a printed time, First United Methodist sorts its ensembles onto those six and leaves the seventh unlisted.
