Private voice teachers in northeast Ohio commonly charge $50 to $90 an hour, or roughly $30 to $45 for a half-hour lesson. SIRIUS works online, which keeps the price sensible, and there is no charge for the trial lesson.
The short answer is yes. Singing runs on breath, hearing and muscle memory, and all three improve with instruction. Plenty of people who were told as children to mouth the words end up singing well once someone actually teaches them.
Most children in Lorain are ready around six or seven. Teenagers should keep singing while the voice changes, with a coach watching for strain. Adults can begin at any point; the voice stays trainable for decades.
The first improvements show up quickly, often inside two months. Getting to a voice that holds up on stage, in a choir loft or through a long rehearsal is more like a year of weekly work. After that you are refining rather than repairing.
Yes. Your coach diagnoses by ear, and a clean signal carries breath, pitch and vowel shape faithfully. The practical bonus matters too: in a lake-effect winter, nobody has to drive anywhere.

Lorain sits where the Black River meets Lake Erie, a port and steel town that has long called itself the International City. Its residents trace their roots to more than fifty nations, a legacy of the mills, and the churches, halls and kitchens they built are still the reason a single festival weekend here can move from Slovak to Puerto Rican to Mexican music without changing streets. Toni Morrison was born in Lorain in 1931 and set her first novel here. The city has never needed to borrow an identity from Cleveland.
Because there is a stage on Broadway and a stage on the water. The Lorain Palace Theatre opened in April 1928, seats about fourteen hundred, still runs its original Wurlitzer organ and puts local kids on its boards through the Palace Youth Theatre. Down at Black River Landing, Rockin' on the River fills nineteen summer nights between June and September, now under a new permanent stage roof built for the 2026 season. Every June the Lorain International Festival brings its bazaar and its parade through downtown; 2026 was the fifty-eighth. Singers here get asked to perform, not auditioned into a queue.
A SIRIUS lesson has one student in it. Your coach works out what your voice does easily, what it avoids, and why - then builds the practice around that. Someone who sings in a gospel choir needs different drills from someone fronting a cover band on a Friday.
Support comes first: breathing low, steadily and without tension in the neck. Then intonation, an even tone from bottom to top, and the trick of getting louder without shouting. Later come phrasing, diction and the confidence to look up from the lyric sheet.
We choose a coach for you rather than handing you a timetable - your style, your ambitions, your available evenings. The trial lesson is free of charge and free of obligation. Lessons happen online, wherever you happen to be. And no level is turned away, from a nervous first attempt to a singer already gigging.
Our platform is tuned for voices rather than meetings, so nothing important is smoothed away: your coach hears the breath, the shift between registers and the pitch as they really are. Session notes, exercises and recordings stay in your workspace between lessons.
Walk out to the 1917 lighthouse on the breakwater, known around here as the Jewel of the Port. Spend an afternoon at Lakeview Park, where the rose garden dedicated in 1932 still fills its beds above the beach. Look in at the Toni Morrison Reading Room in the main library on West Sixth Street, and come back in September for the FireFish Festival downtown. Lorain has sent singers out before: Ellen Hanley, born here in 1926, sang on Broadway in the Pulitzer-winning Fiorello!, and the bandleader Ralph Flanagan came from this city too.
Students come from Charleston Village and South Lorain, from the streets off Broadway and the neighborhoods near the lake. Children, teenagers, working adults and retirees all take lessons here, and each of them starts from their own beginning.
Shift work at the plants, school runs, a February that makes driving miserable - all of it wrecks a fixed lesson time. Online lessons move when your week moves, which is why students keep them.
Book the free trial lesson and sing for one hour. It costs nothing and tells you exactly where your voice stands.
A city whose people came from fifty nations, with a 1928 theater on its main street, has always been a singing town. Add your voice to it, starting at home.
