Around $50 to $90 an hour is the going rate for a private teacher in this part of the Central Valley, with shorter lessons scaled down from there. SIRIUS inverts the order: you get an opening session at no charge, and money only enters the conversation once you have heard the coaching.
You do not need to be born with it. Singing is breath, hearing and muscle memory working together, and every one of those three answers to training. The people who improve fastest are usually the ones who were told early that they could not sing and quietly kept trying.
Children in Lodi are usually ready around six or seven, as long as the lesson stays playful. Teenagers need a coach who understands a changing voice rather than a break from singing. For adults there is no upper limit worth naming.

Lodi has been its own town since 1906, sitting on the Mokelumne River between Sacramento and Stockton without belonging to either. The Mission arch has stood over Pine Street since 1907. The vineyards around it make Lodi one of the most important Zinfandel regions in the country - the local wine commission calls it the self-proclaimed Zinfandel Capital of the World, and the wording is theirs. There is also a famous song named after this town, written by someone who admitted he had never set foot in it. Lodi is used to being described from a distance.
Because there is a stage here that the city actually owns. Hutchins Street Square, run by the city's parks and recreation department, holds the Charlene Powers Lange Performing Arts Theatre and hosts the Lodi Community Concert Association season - the association brought Chanticleer to town in May 2026. Music in the Park fills West Park with free concerts on summer Wednesdays. The farmers market on School Street runs live music every Thursday evening from May through August, and the wineries north of town program their own: Thursday nights at Oak Farm, Sunday afternoons at Van Ruiten. A singer who wants an audience is not short of options.

And Lodi does export singers: Destiny Rogers was born here, learned her first harmonies in her father's church, and signed a record deal before she was twenty-five.
Students come from the streets off School Street, from the neighborhoods near Lodi Lake, from the vineyard roads outside town. Children, teenagers, working adults, retirees - the coaching adjusts, the standard does not.
Agriculture does not keep office hours and neither do the people who work in it. Lessons that live on your laptop can be moved to the evening, the early morning or the far side of a busy week.
