Children can begin around six, in short sessions built around play rather than exercises. Teenagers do best with a coach who is patient while the voice changes instead of pushing straight through it. No age shuts the door on an adult; many of the singers who reach us have stood in a congregation a long time and want to know what a trained version of their own voice would sound like.
The first thing most people notice is endurance, and that usually shifts within five or six weeks of steady lessons, which matters when you sing two services. Tone follows. Preparing a solo or an audition properly is a matter of seasons rather than weeks, and it goes faster if you already sing every Sunday.
