Southeast New Mexico College publishes three part-time rates per credit hour for 2026-2027, and which one applies turns on where the student lives: $54.00 in the Carlsbad Resident category, $67.00 in the New Mexico Resident category, $100.00 for Out of State. A figure built that way reports on a category as much as on a course. $29 is where our lessons start, and that opening hour is free. Before any figure is set at all, SIRIUS hears the recording of that first hour. The category you happen to live in never enters the arithmetic.
Somebody collects a ticket at a bakery counter on N. Canyon having never once set foot in the Carlsbad Community Theatre out on National Parks Hwy. The purchase reports nothing whatever about the building. The sentence "I can't sing" behaves the same way: it reports on a counter, and the room is a separate question. The hour hands you a single rule in its place: what gets described back to you is what was audible, and nothing besides. Nobody had to have been inside the house to walk into it.
The Cavern Theatre prints three figures and two boundaries: $8.00 for an adult, $5.00 from 55 upward, $5.00 at 12 and under. The two fives mark the outer edges of one scale and meet nowhere between. Your SIRIUS coach names what a larynx is doing at whatever age turned up with it, and that naming does not shift when a birthday does. The listed adult price between those two boundaries is $8.00.
The Carlsbad Community Concert Association books four dates across two calendar years: October 3, 2026, November 7, 2026, March 6, 2027, and April 24, 2027. Two fall in one year and two in the next. You size your own progress against the recordings instead, because one of those is made every week while the season is made four times over. Part of what you came for will be audible before November 7, and the rest of it goes on shifting well past April 24.
A transfer without a journey is a complete transfer; nothing about it is partial because nobody traveled. The Carlsbad Municipal Transit System, run by the city's Public Works department, keeps three fixed routes on a sixty-minute headway in each direction out of its station at 510 North Main Street, and $0.50 carries one person along any of them. SIRIUS catches the phrase as the note leaves you, and says so on the spot. What crosses is the same either way: an evening, handed over.

The Carlsbad Community Theatre plays at 4713 National Parks Hwy. and sells its tickets nowhere near the place. Downtown counters hold them: Treasured Moments at 105 S. Canyon, Angee's Flowers at 604 N. Canal, the Blue House Bakery and Cafe at 609 N. Canyon. A florist and a bakery hand over the evening. The Carlsbad Community Concert Association runs the same arrangement from the other side, performing in the P.R. Leyva Auditorium at 800 W. Church St. and the Cavern Theatre at 210 N. Canyon St. while selling at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, 302 S. Canal St. The place where the night happens and the place where it is bought are two addresses under two owners.
Before each evening of the Carlsbad Community Theatre's Season 68, five Fridays beginning October 2, a ticket crosses a counter at 105 S. Canyon, at 604 N. Canal, at 609 N. Canyon. No stage stands at any of them. That distance folds flat in a singing lesson: the hour listens for the point where your breath stops carrying a line, and it does that in the room the voice is already in. Nothing waits to be collected from a third address that plays nothing.
A counter that hands over an evening it has no part in is doing one job, and that job is transfer; it holds a date and knows nothing about what the date is for. The Carlsbad Community Theatre, founded in 1960 and run completely by volunteers, works through counters of exactly that kind. Your SIRIUS coach shifts the written plan after having heard you once, so whoever takes the booking has already heard the voice it belongs to. The counters downtown never need to know that, because the house is not theirs.
What does an hour actually work on? Pitch settles first, because two notes either agree or one sits a shade beneath, and an ear settles that at once. Register follows, the handover from one reach of a voice to the next, and it runs well past the time anyone budgets for it. Volume arrives third and is the thing most singers came in wanting. You carry the song you brought through all three of them, and the fourth item, which nobody asks about at the counter, is how far a line travels before it needs air.
At a downtown counter what changes hands is a slip of paper carrying a date, and whoever passes it across can tell you nothing further about the night. At the same point in our arrangement SIRIUS states the count of lessons and the minutes in each one before a figure is charged, and states it to somebody who has listened to you first. The slip of paper carries a date. The transfer here carries what the date is for.
A lesson is sung; the audio is captured while the note is still in the room; the file reaches your workspace; the exercises settle in beside it. Once the recording is there, SIRIUS sets the terms for it plainly, and the terms are that the minute you want again is yours whenever you want it. The Cavern Theatre lists double bills for October 2026, 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the tenth, the seventeenth and the twenty-fourth, and a seat at either one is gone once the lights come up. A file is not collected from a counter.
CavernFest is put on by Carlsbad MainStreet at the Lake Carlsbad Beach Park, and the organizers write that admission is free for all. The Cavern City Renaissance Festival runs September 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with music and comedy on a Royal Pavilion and a Pirate Stage. The choir at the First Christian Church on S. Guadalupe rehearses on Wednesdays and sings on Sunday mornings. The First Baptist Church on North Alameda Street keeps a post it titles Associate Pastor of Music and Worship. On the Carlsbad High School campus at 3000 W. Church Street a separate Performing Arts Center building holds the band, choir, dance and cheerleading programs.
The Cavern Theatre asks $8.00 of an adult, $5.00 of a senior from 55 up, and $5.00 for a child of 12 or under; the Carlsbad Community Concert Association asks $25 of an adult and admits anyone 18 or younger without one. The hour bends the song it is handed toward whoever walked in with it, and no counted year alters what that song needs. A ticket window has to draw its line at 18, because what it passes across the counter is a seat.
The Riverwalk Recreation Center at 400 Riverwalk Drive opens Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the city states there is no charge for public activities inside it, though the Tottenhoff Activity Room there runs classes and cannot be rented privately. Your SIRIUS coach reserves the slot you named for exactly as long as you want it held, and shifts it to another evening when you say so. The Center charges nothing for public activities; the Tottenhoff Activity Room inside it is not available for private rental.
A transfer with nothing physical in it is a transfer all the same; what moves across is an understanding rather than an object. You say what you want out of it, and that answer is the first term set. Anything you have sung more than twice will do. The third address drops out of it.
The order reads from the other end just as well. The evening stands first and the counter second, because a counter only ever held a date and the thing it stood for was somewhere else the whole time. SIRIUS fits each exercise to the register break in your own voice, a place no counter could have pointed at. Buying and singing happen at one address here, in that sequence and no other.
