Our rate is named up front, and the first lesson carries no fee. We are not going to hand you a Bountiful average, because the studios listed for this city keep their rates off their own websites; the one figure in circulation sits in a third-party directory rather than with a teacher. A number you are given up front is worth more than an estimate somebody assembled.
Almost anyone, and the institutions around here behave as though that is obvious. Utah Choral Collective holds no auditions, the language published for Utah Voices welcomes anybody who can carry a tune, and the General Handbook states plainly that ward choir auditions are not held. Singing weekly in a group is a strong starting position, and deliberate technique on top of it moves fast.
About six for children, working in short bursts. Adolescents mainly need patience while the instrument changes. Adults face no ceiling, and in this city a large proportion of the people who contact us are experienced choir singers in their forties, fifties and sixties who have simply never sat through a lesson of their own.
If you already sing in a choir, the early gains often come quickly, since you arrive with a trained ear sitting on an untrained breath. Six weeks or so of consistent work usually shows up clearly in your own recordings, endurance first of all. Solo repertoire and audition preparation take a season or more.
They do. Our audio was engineered for music teaching rather than for conversation, so the coach hears what your voice is genuinely doing instead of a compressed approximation. Given that two weeknights are already committed, a lesson with no drive attached is the one that fits the week you actually have. The trial is free.

Most city pages open by asking where an adult might find somewhere to sing. In Bountiful that question is already settled. Two choruses inside the city accept singers with no audition, on two different weeknights, and across the twelve Bountiful-named stakes the ward choirs hold no auditions either. So the useful question is the one after it: what does an hour of one-on-one work give somebody who is already singing every week? SIRIUS Music School exists for precisely that hour.
Because ensemble singing and individual technique are separate skills, and only one of them gets rehearsed. Utah Choral Collective meets Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 1476 North 300 West and answers the audition question on its own site with a flat no, charging nothing. Utah Voices meets Tuesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at South Davis Junior High School, and the membership language published for the ensemble welcomes all who can carry a tune, without regard to gender, class, religion, sexual, social or political orientation. The General Handbook says of ward choirs that auditions are not held and that rehearsals do not usually exceed one hour.
Put those together and you get a city full of weekly ensemble singing, and an hour spent listening to a single voice is a separate thing entirely.
That is an unusual starting position, and a strong one. A singer who has held a part for years already has the ear, the sight-reading and the discipline that a beginner spends a year acquiring. The part usually left out is everything happening below the collarbone, because a section rehearsal is built to balance a whole choir, and nobody in it is tracking where your air goes.
Blend is the thing a choir teaches best, and it is also the most efficient method yet devised for keeping one voice hidden inside a full section. A lesson runs the other direction. Your coach hears you by yourself and works out where the air is going, which part of the staff costs you the most, and what your tuning does in the last twenty minutes of a rehearsal.
The aim is not a louder singer. It is one who reaches the third hour of a Sunday with something still in reserve.
Breath management comes first, because that is where experienced choral singers most often stall without ever being told. Then an even join at the passaggio, tuning that survives fatigue, and a top of the range that opens out instead of tightening up.
Beyond that, the material a sectional never reaches: solo phrasing, diction that carries without a section behind it, dynamic control, and repertoire picked for your instrument rather than for the balance of a room.
Why Bountiful singers work with SIRIUS:
We state our own rate before anything is booked. We will not quote you a local average, because the voice studios listed for this city do not publish one on their own sites.
Recording a lesson lets you compare where you started with where you are, which is almost impossible to judge from inside your own skull. Assigned exercises stay available in the SIRIUS Workspace for whenever the practice actually happens.
The Tabernacle at Main and Center was completed in 1863, dedicated that March, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The Bountiful Davis Art Center at 90 North Main Street opens Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., free at the door. Music in the Park has published a Friday 7:00 p.m. slot at Bountiful City Park, also free. Just north in Layton, the Davis Master Chorale rehearses Tuesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., requires no audition, and asks 20 dollars a person or 35 a couple for the season. Utah Choral Collective has taken a Broadway program into a Salt Lake City church at 7:00 p.m. with free admission. Between the two open-door choruses in town, the chorale up the road and the ward choirs, most weeks around here already contain singing.
The Census Bureau put Bountiful at 44,988 people in July 2025, and at 45,762 in the 2020 Census. Numbers that size make for a small city with an unusually large amount of weekly singing in it. Children can begin at around six, working in brief and playful stretches. Teenagers get a coach who steers a changing voice rather than fighting it. Adults arrive at every stage, and in this city plenty of them come with years of choral singing behind them and a first lesson still ahead of them. Some of our students here sing in a ward choir, some in Utah Voices, some in both, and some in nothing yet and would like to change that.
Between a Tuesday chorus, a Thursday chorus and whatever else your week already holds, the scarce resource in this city is the calendar rather than the singing. An hour you position yourself, taken from home, is the shape of lesson that reliably fits into that. It also survives the weeks when the choir has a concert and everything else in your life moves sideways to accommodate it.
The trial lesson costs nothing. Bring something out of your current repertoire, be heard entirely on your own, and leave with a plain assessment of what to work on first. Bring the piece your section struggles with, if you like; that one usually tells a coach the most.
Whatever you are already singing in every week, this is the hour that makes the rest of it sound better, and starting it costs you nothing.
