Singing is technique before it is talent, and technique answers to work. The first audible changes - steadier breath, a cleaner start to a phrase, a note that stops sliding - usually come after a few weeks of regular practice. How far you go from there depends on how often you practice between lessons, which is what the exercises in your SIRIUS Workspace are for.
No one is too late to begin singing: a private voice lesson lets you work on the range you already have, one-on-one, without singing in front of a group. For a child, a one-on-one lesson keeps all 45 minutes on one voice rather than on a room full of them.
Beginners need no prior experience at all. Every voice can be trained, and the first lessons are about breath, support and intonation rather than repertoire. Our coaches work with complete beginners as often as with experienced singers, and every lesson is built around your own voice and your own goals.

A plan covers two, three or four hours a month on a three- or six-month membership; more hours and a longer term bring the hourly rate down. You can pause or adjust your plan at any time. Yes. Singing is a trainable skill: breath, support and intonation all answer to practice, and you need no prior experience to start. True amusia, an actual inability to hear pitch, affects only about one person in seventy, and almost nobody who believes they cannot sing turns out to be one of them. Singing lessons by state
Bardstown has its own school system, Bardstown City Schools, separate from the Nelson County district. Bardstown High School lists a chorus among its music groups, next to band, strings and drama, and it has a Tri-M honor music society. The Basilica of Saint Joseph Proto-Cathedral runs six singing choirs, two of them for children in grades two through eight, and its main choir rehearses on Wednesday nights from September to May. A handbell choir is also part of its music ministry.
Every summer since 1959, the Stephen Foster Drama Association has staged the musical The Stephen Foster Story in the J. Dan Talbott Amphitheatre at My Old Kentucky Home State Park. In summer 2026 its Youth Performing Arts Academy ran three camps, and Kentucky Music Week brought folk music and vocal classes to Bardstown in June 2026. Of the 124 nonprofits with a Bardstown mailing address, three are filed in the performing arts and none as a choir.
