Tell us what you want to play and we match you with one of more than 150 vetted piano teachers, taking your own criteria into account. The first lesson is a free trial lesson with no obligation, and you decide after it whether to carry on.
After the trial you and your teacher agree on a weekly slot. Every lesson runs 45 minutes, one-on-one and live over video, and the hourly rate starts at $29 in a monthly plan. You can move a lesson or switch teachers in the booking tool.
Piano is coordination before it is talent, and coordination answers to work. The first short pieces with both hands together - a melody in the right hand over a few notes in the left - usually come after a few weeks of regular practice. How far you go from there depends on how often you sit down between lessons, which is what the sheet music in your SIRIUS Workspace is for.
No one is too late to begin: a private piano lesson lets you work at the instrument you already have, one-on-one, without waiting for a group to catch up. For a child, a one-on-one lesson keeps all 45 minutes on one pair of hands rather than on a room full of them.
Beginners need no prior experience at all. Anyone can learn to play the piano, and the early lessons are about hand position, posture and reading both clefs rather than repertoire. Our teachers work with complete beginners as often as with advanced players, and every lesson is built around your own goals and the music you want to play.

We found one music school in Elizabethtown that teaches piano, with three piano teachers and published rates, but no shop in town that sells pianos. The state teachers association lists two other private piano teachers nearby, 5.4 and 12.7 miles away in a straight line. The nearest larger city, Louisville, is 34.3 miles off.
Online lessons take the travel out of the week: no drive, no parking, and a slot that stays the same even when the rest of the week does not. Your teacher follows your hands and your posture on camera, stops you where a passage goes wrong, and works from the same sheet music you have open. If a teacher turns out not to fit, you switch in the booking tool.
SIRIUS has over 150 piano teachers, part of more than 400 music teachers across vocals, piano and guitar. Every one of them is vetted and handpicked before a single lesson, carries a SIRIUS certification, and stays in regular training and quality control. We teach every level and every age, from a first lesson to stage-ready.
You are matched rather than assigned: tell us your style, your goals and your schedule, and we find the teacher who fits them. Lessons run live over video on software we developed ourselves for music lessons, so the sound carries the detail an instrument lesson depends on, with nothing to install. In the SIRIUS Workspace your sheet music stays open to you between lessons as well as during them.

A lesson is 45 minutes, and in a monthly plan the hourly rate starts at $29. Your trial lesson is free. A plan covers two, three or four hours a month on a three- or six-month membership; more hours and a longer term bring the hourly rate down. You can pause or adjust your plan at any time. The downtown music school we found with piano lists $110 to $120 for a weekly half hour, $170 to $180 for 45 minutes and $220 to $240 for an hour, depending on the teacher.
A keyboard is enough to begin on. What matters more than the number of keys is touch sensitivity: the keys have to answer to how hard you press, because that is how piano technique is built. Teachers widely treat 61 touch-sensitive keys as workable for a first year and recommend a full 88 weighted keys once you are a year or two in. Your teacher will look at what you have in the trial lesson.
Most piano teachers start children at around six or seven, once a child knows basic letters and numbers, can follow a simple instruction and can sit and focus for a stretch. Readiness counts for more than the birthday, and the free trial lesson is where you and the teacher find out whether yours is ready. Adults start with us at every age, and nobody is too late.
That depends on what you want to play and on how much you practice between lessons. Piano asks two hands to do different things at once, so the early work is hand position, reading both clefs and keeping a steady pulse. A first piece that uses both hands together tends to arrive after a stretch of regular practice, and the exercises in your Workspace are what carry the days in between.
Yes, and the reason is specific to the piano. A piano lesson is mostly listening, demonstrating and repeating, and none of that needs the same room. Your teacher follows your hand position and your posture on camera and can stop you mid-phrase, and the sheet music you work from stays open in your Workspace between lessons. Piano is taught in person in Elizabethtown itself at a music school downtown, and Louisville lies 34.3 miles away as the crow flies.

The Lawson School of Music, located downtown, has offered music classes since 2018 and gives private piano lessons to students of all ages and levels, alongside guitar, ukulele, voice and drama. Three of the four teachers on its staff page teach piano. The school also gives scholarships of free private lessons for the school year to students from six to eighteen, and the next round opens in July 2027.
The city has its own school district, Elizabethtown Independent Schools, with six schools. At the 2024-2025 District 4 band assessments of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, the Symphonic Band of Elizabethtown High School and both the Concert Band and the Symphonic Band of T.K. Stone Middle School each received a rating of I, Distinguished. The Historic State Theater, restored by the city and reopened in 2009, hosts concerts, classic films and live theater in its 1942 Art Deco hall.
