Tell us what you want to play and we match you with one of more than 150 guitar teachers, taking your own criteria into account. The first lesson is a free trial lesson with no obligation, and you decide after it whether to carry on.
After the trial you and your teacher agree on a weekly slot. Every lesson runs 45 minutes, one-on-one and live over video, and the hourly rate starts at $29 in a monthly plan. You can move a lesson or switch teachers in the booking tool.
The first clean chord changes under a steady strum tend to come with a few weeks of regular playing. How far you go from there depends on how often you pick the guitar up between lessons, which is what the sheet music in your SIRIUS Workspace is for.
No one is too late to begin: a private guitar lesson works with the guitar you already have, acoustic, electric or classical, one-on-one and without waiting for a group to catch up. In a one-on-one lesson all 45 minutes go to one player's hands and one player's questions.
Beginners need no prior experience at all. The early lessons are about posture, first chords and a steady strumming hand, and reading tabs and notes comes along the way. Some of our teachers specialize in guitar for beginners, others teach advanced and professional players, and every lesson is built around the songs and styles you want to play.

The one guitar class we found in San Luis was scheduled in a building the city closed for renovation in September 2026. Online the teacher and the weekly time are yours to choose, and Yuma, the nearest larger city, is 16.8 miles away in a straight line.
Online lessons take the travel out of the week: no drive, no guitar case to carry, and a slot that stays the same even when the rest of the week does not. Your teacher watches both of your hands on camera and stops you where a chord change buzzes or a rhythm drifts. If a teacher turns out not to fit, you switch in the booking tool.
SIRIUS has over 150 guitar teachers, part of more than 400 music teachers across vocals, piano and guitar. Every one of them is vetted and handpicked before a single lesson, carries a SIRIUS certification, and stays in regular training and quality control. We teach every level and every age, from a first lesson to stage-ready.
You are matched rather than assigned: tell us your style, whether classical, rock, jazz or fingerstyle, along with your goals and your schedule, and we find the teacher who fits them. Lessons run live over video on software we developed ourselves for music lessons, so the sound carries the detail a guitar lesson depends on. In the SIRIUS Workspace your guitar sheet music is there for you outside of lessons too.

More hours = a better price per hour. Every plan: 45-min one-on-one lessons with vetted teachers.

A lesson is 45 minutes, and in a monthly plan the hourly rate starts at $29. Your trial lesson is free. A plan covers two, three or four hours a month on a three- or six-month membership; more hours and a longer term bring the hourly rate down. You can pause or adjust your plan at any time. The one local guitar price we found is the $35 a month the city set for its fall 2026 guitar class; it covers that class alone, and the schedule does not give the length of each student's lesson.
Either one works, and the guitar you actually want to play is usually the better choice, because that is the one you will pick up. An electric tends to have lighter strings, which is easier on the fingers at first; a steel-string acoustic needs no extra equipment. If you are unsure, a common piece of advice is to start on an acoustic. Our lessons cover acoustic, electric and classical guitar, so the one you already own is a fine place to begin.
Many children are ready for guitar at around six or seven, and some not until ten or eleven, which is normal. Readiness counts for more than the birthday: real interest in playing, the ability to sit and focus for a stretch, and hands that reach around a guitar neck sized for a child. The free trial lesson is where you and the teacher find out whether yours is ready. Adults start with us at every age, and nobody is too late.
That depends on what you want to play and on how much you practice between lessons, so the number of lessons differs from one student to the next. The early work is posture, first chords and keeping the strumming hand steady, and you can start on your favorite songs right away and build from there. Your teacher sets the pace with you after the trial lesson.
Yes, and for guitar the camera covers what matters. A guitar lesson is mostly listening, demonstrating and repeating, and none of that needs the same room. Your teacher sees your fretting hand and your picking hand on camera, can stop you on a buzzing note or an uneven strum, and the sheet music you work from stays open in your Workspace between lessons. In person, the guitar class we found in San Luis is the city's own, while the district and college catalogs list guitar courses without a confirmed campus in town; online you choose your own teacher.

Among the ten classes on the city's fall 2026 schedule is a guitar class for players aged eight and up, at $35 a month, paid directly to whoever teaches it. The schedule placed it at the Senior Center, which the city closed for renovation on September 21, 2026, and we found no word on what became of the class after that. San Luis High School keeps band and mariachi on its club list.
The Yuma Union High School District, which runs that high school, lists Guitar I and Guitar II in its 2026-27 catalog: the first needs no earlier course and asks students to bring their own acoustic guitar, and the second adds ensemble performances. The catalog adds that some courses may not be offered on every campus. Arizona Western College keeps two learning sites in the city, and its 2026-2027 catalog lists two classical guitar courses and four guitar ensemble courses, without saying where they meet.
